Someone denying you access to your iPad for nearly 49 years is a bit of a deal-breaker in any relationship.
A toddler who locked their dad's device for 25 million minutes, however, can be thankful they have the unbreakable ties of blood family on their side.
Evan Osnos, a writer for The New Yorker, took to Twitter recently, airing to the world his toddler's latest 'escapade'.
"Uh, this looks fake but, alas, it's our iPad today after 3-year-old tried (repeatedly) to unlock. Ideas?" he wrote.

Above the caption is a rather soul-destoying photo of an iPad lock screen showing the message, "iPad is disabled" followed by "try again in 25,536,442 minutes".
And in true social media form, along came the funny replies.
"Do you still have the receipt for your 3 year old?"
"I'd say their 52nd birthday present is sorted, but it'll probably fix itself sometime in 2038."
"Planned obsolescence is really getting elaborate these days."
"I always buy a new iPad when this happens to me."
Others could totally empathise.
"I feel ya. But my daughter only locked mine for about 14 years."

Luckily there is a fix, but you have to erase the entire iPad of all its data. It's better than being locked out for nearly five decades, we think.
Osnos posted a happy update on the iPad, which was spared a long stint in the device equivalent of cryostasis.
Update on toddler-iPad-lock-out: Got it into DFU mode (don’t hold down the sleep/power button too long or you end up in recovery). Now restoring. Thanks to those who shared advice!
